This Cookie Policy explains how ExportAZ Mattress (“ExportAZ Mattress”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://www.exportaz.org. It describes exactly what we store in your browser, why, for how long, and how you can control it. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
The short version: we keep browser storage to a minimum. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies by default, our fonts and scripts are self-hosted, and the few items we do store stay on your device and are never sent to us.
1. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to save. They are sent back to the website with each request, which lets the site remember things such as your preferences. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by another domain are third-party cookies.
Websites can also use similar technologies that work in comparable ways:
- localStorage lets a website save small pieces of data in your browser that remain until they are deleted by the site or by you. Unlike cookies, this data is not sent to the website’s server automatically.
- sessionStorage works like localStorage but is erased automatically when you close the browser tab.
- Pixels, web beacons and tracking scripts are tiny images or pieces of code that report when a page is viewed. We do not use them on our Site.
In this policy we use “cookies” to refer to all of these technologies unless we say otherwise.
2. The Cookies and Storage We Use
ExportAZ Mattress is a static website with no user accounts, comments or on-site payments. We currently use only the three browser storage items below. None of them are cookies in the strict sense, none are shared with third parties, and none are used to track you across other websites.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
exportaz_consent | localStorage (first-party) | Remembers the choice you made in our cookie banner, so we don’t ask again on every page and so we know whether optional technologies may load | 12 months, then the banner is shown again | Strictly necessary |
exportaz_finder | localStorage (first-party) | Saves your last answers in the Mattress Finder quiz so your results are still there if you come back | Until you clear it (by retaking the quiz or clearing site data) | Functional / preferences |
exportaz_form | sessionStorage (first-party) | Holds the name you typed in a contact or booking form so it can be shown on the thank-you page | Deleted automatically when you close the tab | Strictly necessary / functional |
Because our fonts and scripts are hosted on our own server, loading our pages does not trigger requests to Google Fonts or other content delivery networks, which could otherwise receive your IP address.
Strictly necessary vs. optional
Strictly necessary storage is needed to provide a service you have requested, such as remembering your cookie choice. It does not require consent under the EU ePrivacy rules and similar laws. Functional storage, such as your saved quiz answers, exists only to make the Site more convenient for you and stays on your device.
3. No Analytics or Advertising Cookies by Default
We do not set analytics, advertising, social-media or cross-site tracking cookies by default, and we do not run third-party ad networks on our pages.
If we decide to use an analytics tool in the future to understand which guides are most helpful, it will load only after you give consent through our cookie banner. Before enabling any such tool, we will update this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy to name the tool, list the cookies it sets and explain how long they last.
4. Our Consent Banner and Changing Your Choice
When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner explains how we use browser storage and lets you accept or decline optional technologies. Your choice is saved in the exportaz_consent item for 12 months.
You can change your mind at any time. Click the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and update your choice. Withdrawing consent stops optional technologies from loading in the future; it does not affect anything that happened before. You can also clear all of our storage items through your browser settings, as described below; the banner will then appear again on your next visit.
5. Third-Party Cookies from Merchants
Some links on our Site are affiliate links to mattress brands and retailers, marked with rel="sponsored" and explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Clicking an affiliate link does not place a cookie on our Site. However, once you arrive on the merchant’s website, the merchant or its affiliate network may set its own cookies to record that you came from ExportAZ Mattress, so it can pay us a commission if you make a purchase. Merchants may also use cookies for their own analytics, advertising and shopping-cart features.
We have no access to or control over these third-party cookies. They are governed by the merchant’s own cookie and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. You can block or delete them using the browser controls below.
6. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data. Menu names change between versions, so the steps below are general guides; your browser’s help pages have the latest instructions.
- Google Chrome. Open the three-dot menu, choose Settings, then Privacy and security. Select Third-party cookies to block them, or Delete browsing data to clear cookies and site data. To remove only our data, open Site settings, then View permissions and data stored across sites, and search for exportaz.org.
- Mozilla Firefox. Open the menu, choose Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, choose Standard or Strict. Under Cookies and Site Data, select Manage Data to remove data for exportaz.org or Clear Data to remove everything.
- Apple Safari (macOS). Open Safari, then Settings (or Preferences), then Privacy. Turn on Prevent cross-site tracking, or select Manage Website Data to remove data for individual sites. On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings, then Safari, then Advanced, then Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge. Open the three-dot menu, choose Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data. From there you can block third-party cookies or select See all cookies and site data to remove data for exportaz.org.
Clearing “cookies and site data” also clears localStorage and sessionStorage. If you block all storage for our Site, you can still read every article, but the Site will not remember your banner choice or your quiz answers. Private or incognito windows discard storage when they are closed.
7. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and will not load any optional analytics or marketing technology, regardless of the choice stored in the banner. Because we do not use cross-site tracking, our practices are the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal.
8. Updates to This Cookie Policy
We will update this policy whenever we add, remove or change any cookie or storage item, for example if we introduce an analytics tool. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Where a change requires your consent, we will ask for it through the cookie banner before the new technology is used.
